CREATIVE LAB
Este proyecto lo desarrollamos durante 7 meses un grupo multidisciplinario de estudiantes de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) en colaboración con la empresa Volkswagen.
Los resultados junto con el prototipo desarrollado fueron presentados en las oficinas de la empresa al acabar el proyecto.
This project was developed by a multidisciplinary group of students of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in collaboration with Volkswagen. The results as well as the prototype were presented and evaluated in their office at the end of the project.

Un grupo de 226 usuarios fueron encuestados acerca de su experiencia actual dentro del coche y sus deseos futuros.
Estos fueron algunos de los conceptos recogidos que posteriormente fueron estudiados y utilizados durante el proceso de diseño.
A group of 226 users were surveyed about their current experience in the vehicle and their wishes for the future.
These were some of the concepts gathered and subsequently studied and used during the design process.
DESIGN PROPOSALS
Las ideas finales presentadas fueron escogidas porque permitían una distribución uniforme de los LEDs dentro del coche a la vez que una amplia variedad de funcionalidades.
Fueron divididas en 3 categorías según con su posición:
Ambient Lights · Seat belt Lights · Door Lights
The final presented functions were selected because they allowed a uniform distribution of the lights inside the car and at the same time an extended variety of functionalities.
They were divided in three categories according to their position:

OVERVIEW OF THE IDEAS PROPOSED

El objetivo de esta función es permitir a los pasajeros experimentar el ambiente exterior del vehículo desde el interior. Para ello, las tiras LED se encienden con el color predominante del exterior en cada momento. Así, por ejemplo cuando el coche atraviesa un bosque, las luces adquieren tonos verdosos y si el paisaje está nevado, las luces serían blancas.
The main goal of this function is to allow the passengers to feel the surroundings's atmosphere from the inside of the vehicle. To do so, the light stripes in the car light up with the predominant colors of the outside. So for example, when the car is going through a forest the light will be green and if it is going through a snow-covered landscape the lights would be white.
BLUETOOTH
APPLICATION
Todos los modos presentados pueden controlarse desde cualquier dispositivo con conexión Bluetooth.
Se propuso que los controles de las luces pudiesen estar incluidos en la pantalla del propio coche.
All the modes shown can be controlled fron any device with Bluetooth connection.
It was proposed that the controlls of the lights could be integrated in the screen of the car itself.
RENDERS
Prèviemente al desarrollo del prototipo se realizaron pruebas de posición de las tiras de luz para ver las posiciones más idóneas y los distintos efectos visuales que se podrían conseguir.
Before starting the prototype developement, several tests where made using photorealistic images to see the best placements for the light stripes and the different effects they could have in the vehicle.
PROTOTYPE
Todas las propuestas se implementaron en un Seat Alhambra, modelo familiar, cedido por Volkswagen.
All the proposals were impentated in a Seat Alhambra, a family model, provided by Volkswagen.
